Under 11's away at Penclawdd

Another tough game this morning against Penclawdd under 11's. They beat South Gower a while ago so we knew this was going to be a tricky one. Sure enough it was. Our positioning on the pitch was better, with more of a defensive line as we stressed in training. But we didn't move up on them quickly enough in defence and we weren't aggressive enough in the tackle. Some players still need to tackle like we do in training, again - YOU KNOW WHO YOU ARE!!!

Our rucking, which was excellent last year was not aggressive enough again today, and because of that, Penclawdd won alot of turnover and 50:50 ball. We ended the half better with a 50 yard dash from Cameron resulting in a fantasic try in the corner. Again we have to stress if we get it wide to our quick players on the new size pitch, we can score tries!! Our set plays were good with Nathan throwing in well for the line out and winning 3 scrums against the head. This was followed by another effort with decent passing resulting in Morgan just missing out in the bottom corner midway into the second half. Our congratulations to Penclawdd though who thoroughly deserved the win.

Some players left the ground really upset at our loss. As coaches that means alot to us, to see that it means so much to some of you too.

Can we also ask that all players turn up at least 30 mins before the match to run through the warm-up and pre-match talks and drills as requested. I know that's tough sometimes but we are trying to create a disciplined, successful team with your help. We all need to be on a recruitment drive as we move to 15 players next year. Please ask friends, neighbours, relatives and any football players who haven't yet seen the light!!

So, fun and games ahead, see you all friday for training, we've played 2 of the toughest sides in Swansea, things can oly get better!! Richy W
